Continuity tester CONTITEST 503 (item no.: 0430)

A continuity tester can be used to quickly and reliably determine whether or not a component, lead or device can allow current to flow. Our continuity testers display continuity optically (LED) and acoustically (speaker). Whereby the acoutical signal is more important. The heard frequency spectrum is inversely proportional to the resistance to be tested. Large resistances cause low tones. Even if a connection only exists for a fraction of a second (as is often the case with broken leads having loose contacts), this is indicated directly. Varying junction resistances at switches and connectors can be indicated acoustically, without observing a needle or slow digital display.

Features of the CONTITEST 503:

Characteristics and implementation like CONTITEST 501, but with a 3-LED voltage display. DC voltages with polarity and AC voltages are displayed starting at 6 volts. Another LED flashes when the applied voltage is greater than 60 volts.
All CONTITEST^® continuity testers can be used to test passive and active electronic components, such as capacitors, diodes, coils, transformers, rectifiers, transistors or even entire assemblies. A common testing method is comparison testing. This involves alternatingly testing a component known to be intact and a presumably defective one. This way, it is often possible to detect flaws such as interruptions, connections, swappings or burned-through PCB traces.
